Mr. WONG Yan-lok, Roger, JP
Director of Water Supplies
Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the
People's Republic of China
Water is a timeless symbol of life, culture and heritage. It is also one of our most precious natural resources. In an era marked by rapid technological advancement and climate shifts, it cannot be over-emphasised that as citizens of the global village we must join hands and brains to make sure the supply of this precious resource is resilient and sustainable.
To address the challenges, the water industry needs unprecedented collaborations beyond national boundaries. Hong Kong’s unique role as a “super connector” between China and the world is the natural gateway between the world’s largest water technology manufacturing ecosystem – the Mainland – and global demand for cost-effective water solutions particularly in the areas of intelligent water management, asset governance, AI and robotics as well as membrane technology. As an international financial centre, Hong Kong also serves as a platform for matching smart water solutions and global financiers seeking sustainable returns.
We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you all to join us in Hong Kong for the inaugural Hong Kong Water Expo, co-organised by the Water Supplies Department and Drainage Services Department. The Expo will bring together under one roof regulators, utility managers, researchers, technology providers and investors from the Mainland and other parts of the world. It will be a perfect platform for investment matchmaking, technology showcasing and policy discussion. The Expo will also host art exhibitions and performances to promote cultural dialogue on water.
More meaningfully, we are honoured to co-organise with the International Water Association (IWA) its world’s first Global Utilities Summit concurrently at the same venue. We are sure these two amazing events running side by side will be all the more enjoyable and worth participating to you.
We look forward to seeing you in April 2027!
